Are the songs you produce with Suno truly your own?

Current and Critical Information for Beste Bank Members

AI-powered music production is now a part of our lives. Platforms like Suno make it possible to create songs in minutes. However , saying "I produced the song" doesn't mean "I own the rights."

Suno's terms of use, updated on November 6, 2025 , have far more implications than many users anticipate. This article clearly explains your rights, risks, and how this is handled in the professional world under Suno's new rules.

Where do Suno's current rules apply?

Terms of use as of November 6, 2025;

  • Suno website

  • Mobile applications

  • Suno Studio

  • Remix features

This applies to the entire platform, including all reviews below. All assessments below are based on this dated agreement.

Paid Plans (Pro & Premier): Is There Actually Commercial Use Included?

Suno offers the following benefits to those using the Pro or Premier plan:

It states that it transfers the rights to the outputs you produce during the paid subscription period to you.

What does this mean in practice?

  • You can release the song on platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and TikTok.

  • You can use this in your videos.

  • You can generate income.

But this is where the real critical point begins.

Big But: "No Guarantee of Uniqueness or Copyright"

Suno is clearly stating the following:

  • We do not guarantee that the music produced is unique.

  • We do not guarantee that it does not infringe on the rights of others.

  • We do not guarantee that the resulting work will actually be protected by copyright.

In short: Commercial use is permitted, but the legal risk is entirely yours. If a problem arises, the responsibility lies with the user, not Suno.

Free / Basic Plan: Professional Use Absolutely Not Available.

If you're using the free or Basic plan, the rules are much stricter:

  • For personal and non-commercial use only.

  • A clear attribution to Suno is required with each use.

  • Sales, distribution, and professional broadcasting are prohibited.

Music produced with these plans cannot be used as if it were a professional release.

Upgrading to Pro later won't save the old songs.

A crucial detail that many people are unaware of:

  • A song produced in the free plan.

  • Even if you upgrade to Pro or Premier later.

  • The song's status will not change.

So the rights are determined according to the plan in effect at the time the song was produced .

Safe options:

  • Reproducing the song on a paid plan

  • Or you can just use that version as a demo.

  • Re-recording outdoors (DAW, actual instruments, vocals)

The License You Granted Suno: Including Your Promises

Suno divides its content into two categories:

  • Submission: Everything you provide (words, prompts, audio)

  • Output: The result produced by artificial intelligence.

These two headings together are considered “content,” and you are granting Suno the following license:

  • Worldwide

  • Indefinite

  • Irreversible

  • Copyright-free

  • Transferable

This license covers the storage, modification, creation of derivative works, sharing of the content, and its use to train Suno's artificial intelligence models .

Yes, that includes lyrics you've written entirely yourself.

Your words can be "learned" by Artificial Intelligence.

There is another very important risk:

  • Suno can learn style and structure from the promises you make.

  • It can then generate similar texts for other users.

  • Even if not word for word, they might be similar in style.

Therefore, the professional approach is this:

If you have a valuable quote, first register it in your own country, then experiment with artificial intelligence.

So in a dispute, you can say, "this text was mine first."

Remix Feature: The Riskiest Area

Works produced using Suno's remix feature:

  • It is considered a joint work.

  • You and the person who made the remix become co-owners.

But there is one very critical limitation:

Remixes within Suno are not commercially available , regardless of your plan.

Well:

  • Your main song in Pro → can be commercialized

  • Remixes made from within Suno → cannot be commercialized.

The safest approach:

  • Turn off Remix features.

  • Keeping the songs secret

  • Doing remix work in your own DAW environment instead of using Suno.

How are professionals using artificial intelligence?

In the real world, the common and safe approach is this:

  1. Using Suno as a demo and sketching tool.

  2. The work that is liked

    • With their own instruments

    • With real or virtual vocals

    • Re-recording in your own DAW environment

  3. I'll leave the Suno version as a reference.

In this way:

  • You will have copyright control.

  • Voice quality and expression improve.

  • Legal risk is significantly reduced.

One Final Reminder

This text is based on Suno's Terms of Use as of November 6, 2025. These terms are subject to change at any time.

This is not legal advice. Especially if you are planning a serious publication, synchronization agreement, or a major project, consulting an intellectual property expert in your country is the most sensible approach.

Note from Beste Bankası

As Beste Bankası, we are not against artificial intelligence . However, we believe that producers, composers, and lyricists need to be informed.

Artificial intelligence is a powerful tool; however, if you use it without knowing your rights, it won't protect you.

Keep producing — but produce responsibly.
